Cumulus - Bombala to Delegate

Late last year I rode sections of this route but because of time constraints cut a few corners. With more time and four wheels [car] I took the opportunity last week to drive the entire section and reaffirm just what a nice bit of country it is from my last time down there doing some gold detecting in 2008-9.

From Bombala you head south on the Monaro Highway [leads down to Cann River]. At 11k you swing west on to Mila Rd which remains sealed for 8k where you join the Cloudride route at the Little Plains Tennis Club [locked, but nice covered verandah] and then roll on a good dirt road 12k down to Cragie. Cragie has a decent bus shelter and community hall if you need some shelter from unplesant weather. Swinging south from Cragie you head down 8k to the Vic border to add a few extra kilometres into the total Cumulus ride distance. The Cloudride takes a more direct route to Delegate.

This is as nice a ride as you can have, fast hard packed, undulating, winding rural roads. Work on your gravel drift through the bends and keep smiling. Once across the border you follow the Bendoc River awhile and after another 10k swing north back into NSW and on up to Delegate, the last 5k sealed.
