More bike .... less hike!

CLOUDRIDE PROLOGUE COURSE CHANGES
I’ve been out riding the last few days on a Nass Valley FT refresher course and deemed it too much hike and not enough bike for entry level bikepackers. Fully loaded it’s just a very tough slog.
These changes and tweaks are intended to speed up the course and reduce the total ride climb down to 8,400Vm. I estimate the paved sections now total about 170k and accounts for 2,700Vm of the total climb.

I will switch the route to the Old Boboyan Rd via Yankee Hat. In my view the paved climbing along Boboyan Rd can be done in half the time it takes to cover the Nass Valley FT. It will switch most of the climbing to the paved section of Boboyan Rd and a more enjoyable ride down to the NSW border on the dirt when it switches to the Old Boboyan Road.

The second important change is for the Cabramurra - Talbingo leg. This will now cross straight over Link Rd after Selwyn, track around Three Mile Dam on to the Wallace Creek Trail that leads on to Coppermine Trail.

Coppermine drops down on to the Yarrangobilly River and up on to Blue Creek Trail eventually leading out on to the Snowy Mountains H’way.
The route will now descend straight down the paved road to the Jounama Dam….. take some brakes with you.

Sections along the Foreshore Road [around Blowering Dam] are currently being logged and there are ‘traffic’ closures in place however I don’t expect this to be an issue for bikes over the weekend.
